VISIONS PROJECT K.1

D.I.Y. interactive 3D device

The Visions Project K. 1.0 is an interactive video installation consisting on a volumetric device that allows visualization of 3-D images and their interaction with the user in real time. Images are projected onto a pyramidal structure, and due to the special geometry of the structure, it looks like real 3-D objects floating inside the pyramid for any observer from any direction.

The concept and aesthetic of the Visions Project uses

the typical video hologram concept presented in science fictions films such as STAR WARS.

The video hologram aesthetic allows us to play with the viewer's visual perception, and produces an immersion in another reality, without using any other complex device. This type of experiences leads us to study large fields of perception such as spatial and kinesthetic ones.

There are two types of interaction experiences: the visual interaction where the image is a point cloud representation of the user; and the haptic interaction where the user can control the orientation and localization of the 3-D image as if he was actually touching it.

The project has been supported by Medialab-Prado
